Shop and Save Math Project

Due Monday March 5

Requirements for Store or Menu:

· On the cover they will need to have the restaurant or store’s name and a picture to go along with the theme of their restaurant or store.

· The stores or menus will need to have at least three different categories of clothing or food (ex. appetizers, entrees, desserts, accessories) and 3 items in each category, for a total of 9 items.

· Prices need to accompany each item.

· The stores or menus need to be colorful and appealing to the reader.

The stores or menus will be used in order to teach discounts, and percents. The students will trade their stores or menus with a partner and try to figure out discounts on several different items. (ex. today there is a 20% discount on all items in the restaurant).

You will need to determine the amount of money that you will save as well as the new price for all 9 items.

Dream House Project

Due Monday October 3, 2011

*This assignment will count as homework #14 and will also be graded as a project.

On a piece of graph paper, you are going to be creating the floor plan for your dream house. In your dream house you must include, a bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen. You must also include three additional rooms of your choice. Include some hallways in your house as well to connect some of the rooms.

In order to receive a four on this project you must have the following:

A minimum of 7 rooms, including the bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen. If you exceed the 7 rooms, it can only help your grade.
Each room must be labeled with the name of the room.
Each room must include the dimensions around each side, do not forget the units.
Each room must have the perimeter labeled inside the room showing P=___
Be as creative as possible and color this project in using crayons/colored pencils.
REMEMBER the scale. You can use 1 box = 1 foot or you can make the units equal more. You have to include this key at the top of your graph paper so that I know the scale that you used.
Make sure your dimensions make sense, for example the bathroom’s perimeter and dimensions should not be bigger than the master bedroom, etc.
